Oh My! Is It Reveal Time Already?!

The really funny thing is - I have had this done for ages because I am such a procrastinator.  But then I forgot totally that today is the day to show everyone what we have done. Please forgive me this is my first ever challenge like this! So below are the pics of what Jeannie sent me. At first glance it might seem that is would be easy being all plain beads. However, I was unsure of how much was me and how much was the beads I got from Jeannie. So it turned out to be a brain-freeze. I will mostly just look at everyone elses gorgeous things and plan on next year.

And here is what I made; out of one necklace and one pair of earrings I managed to get two necklaces and two pair of earrings. I wanted to use as much as I could and I ended up using 100%. Now, I do have to say that the crystal globe earrings are really heavy and only if you want to stretch out your ears for gauges would you wear these. With the necklaces I just added a couple polymer pendants that I made ages ago that were lurking in a drawer. I really had no "process" or plan; this being my first time  figured I would just go with the flow and see what happened. My only criteria was using up everything. You will see in the pic of my copper clasp a little dangle...those were the beads that I had left but was determined to use!

I'm so glad you decided to join this challenge. It's interesting how it really does tax your creative mind in a new way, isn't it? I'm like you, though, I tend to get brain freeze and it's hard knowing how much I'm just stringing beads and letting them dictate the design or am I creating something with the beads. I get that. I also had just beads for mine this time and that made it hard as I didn't have any real design elements to "set the tone" of the necklace for me. But this is a learning process and each time I do it, I get a little better. And I learn SO much by watching what everyone else did with theirs, too. It's really fascinating.

Hopefully, I will be better prepared the next time I decide to do one of these! It's funny though how many times I would look at what someone else did and it would resonate with me, almost making me feel like "Yes, I could have thought that up!" and then I realize...mmnn..maybe not. My trouble is I am a sudden impulse designer.

I think you did a great job- welcome to the wonderful world of blog hops/challenges :) Love the Vintaj earrings- isn't the big kick a blast to work with? Nicely done :) Christie

Thank you, Christie! Yes, the big kick is addictive. I went nuts, bought sheets of metal and gave myself blisters cutting out shapes! Then of course the shapes sat for awhile as I nursed my wounds. I was glad to be able to use some in this project.

Kathy, I get a brain freeze too and it's my own jewelry. I'm the type of person that likes to take things (anything) apart, break them down and figure out how things work. It's the same approach I take with this challenge and why I love it so much
That being said I think your "go with the flow" plan worked out beautifully.

Jeannie, I really appreciate the opportunity to do this! It was fun seeing so many different ideas come to fruition. I hope to get in on another one soon.

Thank you! They are like door knockers! But after seeing a few of the other blogs it gave me the idea to make keychains. It never occurred to me because I was thinking 'jewelry'. Live and learn...

That's the wonderful thing about this type of challenge. There is no right or wrong way to approach it!

Great job Kathy. I just got a big kick but, I haven't used it yet.I bet those globes are heavy.

I am definitely one that lets the beads dictate what I make. I find that I will sit down with a plan and the design sketched out but the finished product doesn't look anything like what I had planned. That's how my muse rolls.

I do love the finished designs. Those earring are gorgeous and I bet that they are heavy.

Thank you, it helps to start out with nice beads. It is hard to see in the photos but some of the black had a nice oil slick rainbow.
Yes, I tried on the earrings and had them on for less than a minute and just had to take them off. I think they will be re-re-purposed into keychains! Or personal protection weapons..lol!

I love what you made, and actually, I love what you started with, too. My "problem" with Jeannie's do-overs is that it's almost a shame to take them apart and make them over! Those crystal globes...yum! I am wanting some of those babies!

I know what you mean; it almost seems sacrilegious to 'destroy' another beader's work.

Yes, it was fun to "flex" our mental muscles. And I enjoyed finding lots of new fun blogs to follow.

It's a great challenge isn't it? Really stretches those creativity muscles. I love your PC elements. They really bring the necklaces to life.

Penny, I loved the beadwork you started to do. I loved your finished one as well but would have liked to see where your tiny beadwork would take you. That amazes me because I can't see well enough to do that tiny work. But my favorite picture was your work spread over the bed and working with your daughter. All of mine are grown and gone-I miss that :-)

Hi Kathy,
Most creative people procrastinate but in the end they always manage to create a piece of beauty. In your case you created 4 pieces of beauty. I love that interesting pendant on the first necklace and the earrings with the metal tear drops are my favorites.

Thank you Therese, it was a fun challenge! I tried to get the pictures bigger to show the detail on the pendant...it has a slightly sinister look to it that I thought would be good for Halloween.

I am so glad you joined in on this hop Kathy - you did a fantastic job! My favorites are the bird earrings and the heart necklace - I have a thing for hearts and use them all the time in my own jewelry, Beautiful work! :)

Hearts are fun to do, you can make so many cool variations of them. Thank you for the kind compliments :-)

Excellent work. Doesn't look like you had brain freeze at all. Though I have made things then just let them sit and decide later I don't like them and do something else...so glad you posted and decided to go with the flow.
