While I have no formal training or degrees, I have always had a creative spirit or drive. My mother, now 94, will still tell me stories of when I was very little and some of the things I would fashion out of the most unlikely substances. My dad would bring home odd bits of things from work that he thought I might like to use. One summer the Bookmobile (yes, the library would come to your house!) had a book on wire working; dad brought home a huge hank of telephone wire that kept me busy the whole summer!
Throughout my life I have been attracted by one medium or the other but circumstances dictated that I would never end up going to college. It didn't stop my desire to make things with my hands and so I did. Marriage and children started to fill my life and my art became relegated to sewing clothes and the odd sketches done with my children. At one point as they grew older I started woodworking and making dolls; the craft circuit beckoned so I did that for awhile.
My life has taken yet another turn and the children are grown; now it is just me so I am learning the joys of solitude. I no longer do the craft circuit because these old bones can no longer take the punishment. So I turned once again to smaller craft and in doing so I discovered I loved to design jewelry. My tastes have always been counter to what you might find at your local mall, so I made what I liked and hoped others did as well. My desire to create and share those creations has now taken to the internet so I have had to learn a whole new skill set. Thank goodness, I have my kids and grandkids for help and information; as a Baby Boomer it does not come second nature to me.
Enjoy browsing the gallery, my etsy store and my blog. If you see anything you are interested in and it is not listed you can use the contact form below.
