Strange Seeds....

The feared last snow of the year didn't materialize, at least in my part of town. Hopefully, that means spring is that much closer.  Gardening friends are already thinking of what bulbs and seeds they will be planting.  Somehow I never got into gardening, despite my best efforts to try. It just isn't my thing; however creating fantasy seeds for an imaginary garden is more my style.  To the right and below are examples of the seeds I might sow in that fantasy garden.

What do you think these odd seeds would bloom into? A flower, a shrub, or some sort of odd food for an alien race of beings? I almost wish I could plant these on a far away world and watch them grow to fruition.
For the time being though, I have to be content creating and sharing these wondrous seeds. You can find them in my etsy shop if you too want to plant odd seeds.

Spring Is Just Around The Corner...

Even though Cincinnati is going to get at least one more snow dump (probably tonight) spring truly is around the corner. For me spring always means throwing open the windows and getting fresh air blowing through the house. Metaphorically I like the fresh air of spring blowing through my mind as well. Spring is usually when I get most of my new ideas to work out the rest of the year.  Here are a couple of the new things I have been working on and have listed for sale on my etsy shop.
On the left is my fantasy take on morning glories-one of my favorite flowers; they always remind me of my grandmother.
The pictures on the right are my interpretation of tribal talisman spear shaped beads. I have them in rusty orange and contrasting blues.  They will make great earring elements or could be included in a funky asymmetrical necklace. As spring unfolds I am excited to see what else I discover as I blow away the cobwebs of winter. Stop in my shop and see what else I have to show you!

...I Can Have A Dark Side Too...

Not everyone's cup of tea but Tim Minchin is one of my favorite rock stars (yah I know you've probably never heard of him-but he is still a rock star). He is smart and funny, obscure and obvious. He is also basically a happy person, as am I. One of his songs is called Dark Side and he writes about being a basically happy person percieved as having no depth in their work. We (he and I) are the type that even though things get us down we look for the pony in the poop.  As artists that can leave people wondering if we have any deep thoughts in our head or is it all unicorns and rainbow farts; let me assure you that I too can have a dark side...
Oddly enough, while I was creating the odd little works I'm showing below I was happy and not having the dark thought associated with the subject matter. Perhaps it was because I was creating, making something with my hands to shock and surprise - move the viewer in some way or another. I will be listing these beads for sale on my etsy site for people to add a bit of darkness to their own designs. So here is my dark side...
